Peer Educator

mMary-Kate Laibhen

Hi, my name is Mary-Kate Laibhen. I’m planning to major in computer science and potentially minor in religion, though I’m still exploring my options. I was born and raised in Haiti and moved to the United States when I was nine years old. Now, I proudly call Miami, Florida, my home. As a first-generation student, I’m deeply passionate about creating opportunities and breaking down barriers for others like me, particularly when it comes to accessing higher education. I believe education is a powerful tool for empowerment, and I’m committed to making a difference in thisspace. I'm thrilled to be starting my role as a peer educator at the Butler Center. I’m eager to collaborate with my peers and find innovative ways to promote anti-racism, equity, and inclusion on campus. I see this as an opportunity to not only educate but also to learn from others and grow together.
