Special Projects (selected)
Researched, designed, piloted Possibility Books (PB), a pedagogical approach that develops creative thinking by intentionally connecting disparate ideas to content and goals. The practice involves specific materials and a series of adaptable prompts which create a safe space for participants to explore co-creation of learning. Utilizing mark-making to access embodied knowledge and centering identity perspectives as assets, PB creates value for diverse perspectives. Most students in the PB pilot (85%) agreed that the method contributed to their sense of community, wellness, creativity mindsets, and recommended PB be used in other courses.
Created Multiple Narratives, a project funded by the Mellon Foundation to connect K- 12 writing to art while collaborating with CC students, local 4th/5th graders, docents and curators at the CS Fine Arts Center. Project shifts the act of looking at art from an art-historical model (privileging information about the art itself) toward more inclusive realms (focusing on student voice). Created to incorporate critical pedagogies that question authoritative voice, knowledge and cultural equity. Included substantial educational technology component that utilized the art museum to honor students’ voice and perspective (2016-present)
