Writing Center Specialist

Professional History:

Originally starting as an archaeology and museum studies major in college, Rebecca quickly fell in love with English while working as a tutor in the Writing Center. In between working as a peer consultant and later a writing support coordinator, she’s been a copyeditor, museum educator, English lecturer, amateur baker, and fly-fishing novice-in-training. Rebecca has a particular interest in environmental literature and enjoys working with students on long-term projects like senior theses where she helps students develop as writers and researchers.

 

Rebecca specializes in:

• Working with students on thesis projects (one-on-one and in swarms)
• Organizing thesis workshops on research and the writing process
• Teaching a thesis writing adjunct
• Student referrals from Accessibility Resources

 

Current academic interests and scholarship:

• The intersection of nature, art, and the self
• The impact of fracking and mining on intergenerational trauma
• Explorations into music and affect theory

 

Personal activities and interests:

• Moving her body, mostly through trail running, swimming, and climbing
• Watching any and every cooking-related show out there
• Doing endless puzzles and Lego sets
• Bribing her cat to think of her as the favorite human (it’s not working)
