Since the late 19th century, anarchist groups have participated in a wide array of different revolutionary and activist movements. They took part, for example, in the Russian Revolution of 1917, the Spanish Civil War, American labor activism, and the anti-globalization movements of the early 21st century. This course examines some of the iterations of anarchist thought and practice over the course of the past 150 years.<br><br> This 300-level, co-taught course brings together historical and philosophical methodologies to explore a rotating theme, such as: 鈥淎frican History and Philosophy,鈥� 鈥淗istory and Philosophy of Science,鈥� or 鈥淭he Philosophy of History.鈥� Although conceived as a cornerstone course for the History-Philosophy Major, all are welcome. Students may take the course more than once, if taught on a different topic. With approval from the student鈥檚 advisors, it may be used to satisfy the 300-level History-Philosophy course requirements listed under 鈥淭hematic Coursework.鈥� 1 unit - Lee, Smith.
